The news is all over the net by now, but there’s a new SF magazine, and it’s worth checking out. From the press release:

Lightspeed’s focus is exclusively on science fiction. It features all types of sf, from near-future, sociological soft sf, to far-future, star-spanning hard sf, and anything and everything in between. No subject is considered off-limits, and Lightspeed writers are encouraged to take chances with their fiction and push the envelope.

And I’ve got the first story in the first issue, with cover art to match! (woot!) Here it is: I’m Alive, I Love You, I’ll See You in Reno. There’s also an interview with me that involves Penthouse and bear traps. If you want to learn more about relativistic travel, you can read Mike Brotherton’s accompanying essay.

If you prefer podcast format, you can download I’m Alive, I Love You, I’ll See You in Reno at Escape Pod.

If you’ve been reading my blog and thinking, “Gosh, I should read Vylar’s fiction sometime,” this story is a good place to start. Enjoy!

  1. I just wanted to write and congratulate you on being featured in the inaugural issue of LIGHTSPEED and let you know how much I enjoyed your story. It was beautifully written and extremely creative. Good job, and I shall be keeping my eyes open for more of your work.
